Regional finalists announced

Regional finalists have now been chosen, so please click on "2008 regional finalists" in theleft hand column to check who is in the running for your region's title. (NB Scottish and Northern Irish finalists have yet to be decided).

Voting in the Rural Hero and three political categories will remain open until the end of November, so click here and get voting.

Judging visits will soon take place and winners for Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the English regions will be announced in the New Year. 

A reception will be held in Cardiff on Tuesday 27th January to announce the all-Wales winners and the Scottish winners will be announced at a Holyrood reception on Wednesday 11th February 2009.

Will Simon Hart be honouring your favourites in March?

18th March 2009 – the UK Winners’ Reception will be held at the Houses of Parliament in London and the all-UK winners will be revealed. At this event the overall political awards and the Rural Hero will also be announced by Head Judge, Countryside Alliance Chief Executive Simon Hart (pictured).

Rural enterprise hits the headlines

The Gallery and The Old Farmhouse Bakery at Steventon in Oxfordshire have made the Southern Regional Final of the Countryside Alliance Awards in the Enterprise category. Read about their achievement on Springfair.com here.

Ribble Valley Food Trail in the Lancashire Telegraph

The Ribble Valley Food Trail has made the North West final in the Rural Enterprise category.  The Lancashire Telegraph has reported on this saying: "The food trail is the brainchild of Ribble Valley Council and chief executive David Morris believes nomination for the award was testament to the hard work of all those involved. He said: “The Countryside Alliance Awards recognise the best rural enterprise and regeneration projects in the UK and to be shortlisted is fantastic. The Ribble Valley Food Trail been a huge success and the council has shown that, despite limited resources, it is capable of outstanding work.”  Read Ribble Valley food trail in line for major award .
